Things to do in Rovinj

The location of Casa Geranium in the heart of the Old Town of Rovinj, means that not only are you close to the many sights, but you are actually staying in the main attraction itself – the Old Town!

There are so many things to do in Rovinj for all types of visitors. Here are a few of our suggestions :

For the Exploring and Energetic Visitor

Exploring the natural park of Zlatni Rt, taking a boat trip to one of Rovinj’s many islands, fishing in the sea, or taking a fish picnic down the Lim Fjord. For the more energetic types, there is swimming, diving, rock climbing, watersports, tennis, table tennis, karting, rowing, running, paintballing, cycling, and for those with a head for heights climbing the steps to the top of the tower of Sv. Eufemija.

For the Hungry and Thirsty Visitor

Enjoying freshly caught fish, sampling local Istrian specialities such as prsut (Croatian prosciutto), sheep’s cheese and olives or trying the many Italian dishes available (such as the wood-fired pizzas, pasta and risotto). Don’t forget to try one of the many flavours of ice cream, or relax and have a coffee and cake from any of the pavement café bars. Or take your pick at Rovinj’s daily fruit & vegetable market, and adjacent indoor fish market.

For the thirstier visitor how about chilling out at one of the bars, tasting the local wines, spirits, and beers or sipping cocktails watching the sun set along the peninsula?

For the Photographer or Artist Visitor

There are so many photo and drawing opportunities such as the sunsets over Rovinj, the Old Town’s streets, the fishermen hauling in their morning catches, dusk in the Old Town and the panoramic views of Rovinj from the top of Sv Eufemija’s church tower.

For the Cultural and Historical Visitor

Appreciating the Venetian architecture of Rovinj, visiting the Museum of Rovinj, Church of Sv. Eufemija, the museum of the Batana boat unique to Rovinj, the town’s aquarium, and art galleries. Further afield do not miss a visit to Pula to see the Roman Amphitheatre and historic monuments, the Basilica of Porec, or take a day trip by boat to Venice.
